READ: PSALM 29
Worship In its Truest Form
Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.
We won’t know the ultimate perfect worship this side of glory, but what does true worship mean for us? After all, we are just flawed human beings seeking to glorify our King.
Total disregard for oneself, coupled with total regard for “He” who is most precious of all, is a good place to start. Outer worship begins with an inward change. This change comes from a heart wholly devoted to God, even in the midst of pain.
In the beginning, worship was required through an outward sacrifice of an animal. It soon became an easy substitution for sin.
When Jesus arrived on the scene, ritual without love for the One sacrificed to permeated the mindset. Hearts were far from God. Then He offered up the ultimate sacrifice, Himself. Blood sacrifice was no longer required. Most turned away from the One who offered them the true way to eternal life.
Do your works manifest your heart’s desire to fully surrender to your Lord? Why do you do what you do? That is the question. Your answer determines your final destination.
Praise Prayer: Lord, may my worship begin with a heart fully devoted to You. For only then am I truly worshipping. Amen.
